Rick Wakeman and Ian Hunter joined David Bowie’s celebration

Rick Wakeman, Mott The Hoople frontman Ian Hunter, Adam Lambert, Yungblud and How to Destroy Angels singer Mariqueen Maandig Reznor are among the latest additions to the bill for A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day !, a global event. streaming which will take place in January. The 8th birthday of David Bowie, to mark the fifth anniversary of the singer’s death.

Hosted by Mike Garson, the oldest member of David Bowie‘s band, the event will also feature a host of rock stars, including Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Billy Corgan ( The Smashing Pumpkins), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Ian Astbury (The Cult) and Corey Glover (Living Color).

They will join the alumni of Bowie’s groups spanning his self-titled 1969 album through to his last album, Black Star, including singer’s childhood friend Peter Frampton and saxophonist David Sanborn. Longtime Bowie record producer Tony Visconti will also attend.

Starting at 6 p.m. PT / 2 a.m. GMT, the three-hour show will be available to ticket holders for 24 hours after its initial broadcast. Event organizers must donate $ 2 per ticket purchase to Save the Children.
