Mott the Hoople ’74 extends first U.S. tour in 45 years

Mott the Hoople’s first US tour in 45 years extended into the fall. The British glam rockers, who kicked off the tour last spring, used the moniker Mott the Hoople ’74 to mark the return of guitarist Ariel Bender and keyboardist Morgan Fisher..

The group will debut the fall stage at the Capitol Theater in New York City on October 21. They will perform eleven dates across the United States, stopping at the Moody Theater in Austin on October 29 and ending at the Moore Theater in Seattle on November 6. Presale tickets will be available tomorrow for fans through Spotify.

Best known for his glittery 1972 glam rock anthem “All the Young Dudes,” written by David Bowie, Mott the Hoople ’74 originally planned to perform only eight shows last spring. “[T]that’s it – I don’t want to drop it, ”said frontman Ian Hunter Rolling stone‘s David Fricke earlier this year. “Mott were hilarious people and the camaraderie has always been more important to me than anything else. I’m not doing this tour for money. I want fun.
