Every year, there are hundreds of awards. Four of them are valid, while the vast majority are trivial and meaningless, with no purpose except for a little ego-fluffing.

This one fits into that latter category nicely.

Since starting my site back in September 1999 (the ninth month of the Old Calendar), a lot of funny captions have found their way into the GlitterDome. After the first year I decided to go through them and pick out the funniest cap on each page and single them out for bouquets or brickbats. Well, two years later, and I'm shocked how many people still check out this section! So I've decided to make it an annual event. Brace yourselves, damen und herren, for (::drumroll::)

GLITTER'S ELEVENTH-FUNNIEST CAPS OF THE MILLENNIUM!

This award represents the pinnacle, the apex, the creme de la creme of the capping pyramid -- at least, until a better award comes around (which should be any minute now). It's an award for outstanding excellence in the field of exceptional capping.

In the beginning the job was easy. I only had fifty pages to go through. Well, as you can see, the site's grown a bit since then. In 2003, there were an amazing 524 new pages added to the site -- well, last year we had nearly 900 new pages added!! I chose what I thought were the funniest. I excluded my own caps from consideration naturally because a) I wouldn't be able to be impartial (I'm being honest), and b) mine aren't that damned funny anyway. Now, there are some cappers who win more than once, but that's not attributable to talent as much as it is to dumb luck.

And let me state for the record, once and for all ... EVERYONE'S caps on my site are funny (except for mine -- see reason b above)! Otherwise, they wouldn't be on my site. Nuff said.

In the past, I've segmented off the captions into their own galleries. Well, because of how many there are, I've opted to just stick them in galleries of 30 each, and mix them together (think of it like a Capper-Power Shake; a spoonful of laughter, and a whole stick of butter in every serving!) So, just click on the link for the new section, and have a laugh or two at the funniest captions of the last 1,000 years! Due to the many MANY caps, I've seperated them into special sections, so just click on the category and be whisked off to a world of whimsey and enchantment for ages 3 to 5! That said, enjoy the funniest caps of the last 1,000 years!
